Formerly known as the ‘Laventille Band’ the Steelband was seen as an important part of the East Port of Spain community. West Indian Tobacco Company WITCO Desperadoes is now seen as the most successful steelband in history.

Following the death of arranger Clive Bradley at the end of 2005, there was a desperate search by WITCO Desperadoes Steel Orchestra to secure an arranger for Carnival 2006. Former arranger Robert Greenidge has given a verbal commitment to be the main arranger for the band and is expected to return to Trinidad to finalise plans.
