    This is the first installment of a three-part series on the steelband. Sullivan and Belgrave review the realities of the steelpan instrument/orchestra in today's world and proposes a detailed strategic plan which will allow for maximum benefits to be derived from this creation. Although Trinidad and Tobago is the birthplace or the mecca of pan, pan has reached internationally and we have lost the ability to maintain leadership of the steelpan industry, world-wide.
