Item Geniuses in the Homeless Kingdom of Pan(TandT Review, Feb-12) Andall, Laurie; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoThis article outlines the victories and geniuses of the steelband heroes but laments the lack of a dedicated national space of acclamation where a student, tourist or fan could visit. The contributions of these Pan artistes have made Carnival king in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.Item The Journey of Pan: From Folklore to Philosophy(TandT Review, Dec-11) Andall, Laurie; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoA historical look at the development of the steelpan, its contribution to society and the pioneers that contributed to its development, both the instrument and the movement.Item Negotiating Pan's Labyrinth(TandT Review, Jun-12) Andall, Laurie; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoThe article traces the development of the steelpan and its move from the periphery to the centre, especially during panorama festivities. However, a clear policy on Pan as the national instrument is still to be declared.Item Pan in De Mas(TandT Review, Mar-12) Andall, Laurie; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and TobagoThe article argues that steelbands should reclaim their Carnival heritage in Jouvert and in doing so reclaim the beach head of the Festival itself as a prelude for a launch into the mas. It is noted that pan on the road on Carnival days is an expensive business but this is the main reason there are sponsored steelbands in the mas.
