The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus (UWI STA) is one of four campuses which serve the Caribbean region. The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine (UWI STA) Campus' Photograph Collection features notable West Indian and local personalities associated with the Campus over the last 40 years. The collection contains images of the University when it was the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture as well pictures of flora and significant landmarks on the Campus. In addition, events and significant milestones in the institution's history are highlighted.

    Albert Maria Gomes

    Albert Maria Gomes was a journalist and politician who received his early education at Pamphylian High School and later studied at New York University. He entered politics by way of the trade unions and the Port of Spain Council in Trinidad. He was Minster of Labour, Industry and Commerce from 1950-1956, during that period he led many delegations and conferences abroad.
