Rapid Assessment of the School Nutrition Policy Environment In Select Caribbean Countries

Abstract

In direct response to the widening gap between political commitments and policy implementation - in September 2019, arising out of a regional multisectoral meeting, the HCC launched A Civil Society Call to Urgent Action for the Caribbean Region to Accelerate Nutrition Policies for the Creation of Healthy Environments for Caribbean Children to demand urgent action to halt the rise of overweight and obesity among children in the Caribbean through the implementation of priority policies including school policies. With the support of The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) Project, the HCC has mapped the current school nutrition policy environment in order to inform civil society advocacy for strong national healthy nutrition policies in school settings.
