Abstract
These interviews were conducted as part of Peggy Mohan's research for a Ph.D. degree at the University of Michigan, 1978. The informants, whose ages ranged from mid-twenties to over 100 came from Cunupia, Balmain, Califomia, Calcutta Settlement, Brickfield. Their names are given on the transcriptions. The interviews were conducted in Trinidad Bhojpuri, which was "the ethnic language of the Indian community in Trinidad" (Mohan, Peggy R.
