Victor Benoit, the leader of the Congress of Democratic Movements in Haiti has been named as the choice for Prime Minister by ousted president, Jean Bertrand Aristide. Mr. Benoit is a member of the majority coalition of parties which first nominated President Aristide for last year's elections. The mayor of Port-au-France, Evans Paul said that President Aristide had proposed Mr. Benoit during a series of telephone conversations between the ousted leader and members of the Haitian Senate. Jamaica has a barter arrangement with the Soviets in which payment for bauxite is split between hard currency and cars. But recently they've been forced to take a closer look at the agreement due to further fragmentation within the USSR and reports of the Soviet dumping huge quantities of aluminum on the world market. Interview with Oddly, Roberts, the Managing Director, Bauxite and Alumina Trading Company of Jamaica. Aaron Worthington, Commodities Analyst of the London firm Warburg Securities, also discusses the effect of the Soviet dumping aluminum on the world market on Jamaica.
