Greetings from Trinidad, B.W.I.

Abstract

The description at the back of the postcard reads: "Visitors stop at the "Half Way House" along the North Coast Road to Maracas Bay." This postcard depicts the road to Maracas Bay, Trinidad. It shows the road as paved, winding, high above sea level and carved into the mountain side. On the left of the photograph is a sheer cliff. The side of the road is covered in foliage. Two to three foot high, white and black, concrete pillars with thick, wire cable form a crash barrier at the right. Also at right are two blue mountain peaks; a few trees including an Immortelle tree, a Bois Canot and a few coconut palms and four automobiles. Two people are viewing the landscape on this mountainous road. They are both dressed in yellow and one is wearing a pair of shades. One of them seems to be a tourist. The photograph might have been taken around mid-day as the shadows appear directly under the cars. What appears to be a very wide road at the foreground is actually a paved area off-road to allow visitors to park there and observe the surroundings. Postcard number 23965.
