The objectives of the meetings detailed in his report, have been to assess the implications of the COVID 19 on Member States Education Systems and to identify strategies to ameliorate the situation in the short, medium and long term. The strategies can be split into two categories – those that can be considered to be responsive in nature and that will contribute toward recovery. Some challenges reported by OECS Member Countries are as follows: 1) Due to school closure, students are unable to access essential learning; 2) Disadvantaged students have limited access to the nutritional support that they usually receive; 3) Disadvantaged students have less access to online learning opportunities; 4) Limited capacity to transition to online learning due to the absence of a harmonized solution; 5) Administration of National and Regional Exams; 6) Unfavorable Parent-child interactions due to heightened stress; 7) Limited technical and financial resources across the region to support the response to COVID-19 crisis.
