Jamaica Moves in Schools Initiative April 2018 – March 2019

Abstract

In light, of the tsunami and epidemic of childhood obesity affecting our future generation the Government has a moral responsibility to act on behalf of the Jamaican children to scale up efforts to reduce the risk and unintended consequences of this epidemic. Jamaican children have a right to a healthy life in keeping with the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedom “the right to enjoy a healthy and productive environment free from the threat of injury or damage from environmental abuse” [16].The main goal of the Jamaica Moves in Schools programme is: To strengthen the capacity of the school community to become a healthy setting for learning and working.
