John Compton, Prime Minister of St. Lucia reacts to the allegations made by editor of the St. Lucia Star Rick Wayne, who published a love letter allegedly written by Mr. Compton to a seventeen year old school girl. Prime Minister Compton describes the articles as the continuation of a three year smear campaign by Mr. Wayne. He further expresses his disappointment in the BBC Caribbean Report for being the vehicle for internationalizing the present allegations without getting a statement from him, as he was on the campaign trail. Any explanation he says will be given on the 27th April, 1992 - St. Lucia’s general elections day. Mr. Compton refused to answer questions on the allegations posed by the anchor Hugh Crosskill (00:00-09:15)
