Abstract

This photograph, circa the early twentieth century, is of a man in traditional Indian wear: a dhotie or pair of wrapped shorts; a kurta or long-sleeved shirt and head tie, walking down the centre of the road. The road is flanked with electricity lines and coconut palms, which seem to extend to infinity. A few of the palms at right are almost headless. The palms on the left are hemmed in by a simple, concrete-posted, wire, fence. There is another person walking in the road in the background. Postcard numbered i15471.
