Abstract
The Opposition parties in Guyana are concerned about whether the upcoming elections will be free and fair. The Guyanese government is being condemned by the Guyana Human Rights Association for supporting the interim administration of Suriname following its recent Christmas Eve coup. A former Jamaican political and Trade Union activist, now based in the United Kingdom, has criticized CARICOM governments for backing the US led military action in the Gulf. One of the biggest global parties of the century is being planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the so called discovery of the New World of the Americas and the Caribbean by Christopher Columbus. A 30 year old Jamaican tries to attain another world title as he ttakes his second step on the comeback trail.

2. The Guyana Human Rights Association is condemning the Guyanese government for supporting the interim administration in Suriname, which was installed by the military after the Christmas Eve coup. They have sent their concerns to the Chairman of CARICOM, Mr. Michael Manley and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, A.N.R. Robinson. (00:24-03:16)
3. Mr. Richard Hart, Former Jamaican political and Trade Union activist now based in the United Kingdom has criticized CARICOM governments for backing the US led military action in the Gulf. He believes that CARICOM has hurt its own image by supporting Gulf war. He believes it is a case of boot licking or curry favoring. He notes that CARICOM should not have committed itself totally in a way that it will not have any need to be rewarded. 4. 1992 marks the 50th anniversary of the so called discovery of the New World of the Americas and the Caribbean by Christopher Columbus. To celebrate this event, there is likely to be one of the biggest global parties of the century. Concerns are raised on whether this is an event that the Caribbean should tap into (07:01-11:36)
5. Lloyd Honeyghan, a 30 year old Jamaican tries to attain another world title after winning his comeback fight despite criticisms. As it turned out, it was just reported that the referee has stopped the fight after the first round and Honeyghan has just won his match in London. (11:37-14:24)
