Abstract
75-80 % of the Caroni workers were women so they participated in the celebration of World Rural Women's Day on October 15, 1999. At that time Prime Basdeo Panday selected Dora Bridgemohan, a cane cuter with Caroni, to act as a Senator in the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago where she served for about one year.
