dc.description.abstract | In this report, PAHO has endorsed the Guyanese government's announcement that cyanide levels in the Essequibo River no longer poses a health threat. Guyana's Foreign Minister Clement Rohee comments on the issue that at least three CARICOM states banned Guyanese seafood exports because of the spill. Montserrat's Chief Minister Reuben Meade states that while monitoring of the volcano continues the situation appears to have stabilized. Residents of St. Martin are speaking out against an accord between the Dutch Kingdom and the French government aimed at controlling immigration into the island. The benefit for the famous spin twins of the 1950s Alfred Valentine and Sonny Ramadhin has taken a bad turn. The organizer, editor of Caribbean Times, Arif Ali comments on the cancellation. In cricket, West Indies players Sherwin Campbell and Ian Bishop have each been rewarded for finishing as top batsman and bowler respectively throughout the series. | en_US |
