dc.description.abstractThe article examines the formation of Fonclaire, the Southern based Steel Orchestra which had its genesis in 1965. The name Fonclaire was chosen since the panyard was situated at the corner of Claire and Fonrose Streets, San Fernando. The successes of the band and its many innovative measures are outlined.en_US
