Abstract

A colored image of a street scene on Market Street, Roseau, Dominica. There are several persons walking the street which has buildings lining both sides. The buildings might be a combination of residential and commercial structures. The name L. Phillip is clearly visible on a sign in the foreground. The street is lined on the right side with a string of utility poles. The buildings in the image provide representation of the architectural features of the times, as does the cart for transportation.

This is a divided back postcard. Back of postcard PNTP £13. A small square box on the top right corner of postcard Made in Germany. Picture by Masterville.

[Masterville Joseph was a Dominican photographer known for capturing scenes of Dominica in the 1920s and 1930s, which were often used for postcards and exhibited at cultural centers. His work provides a valuable glimpse into the island's landscape and culture from that era].
