In this report, there is more activity from Montserrat's volcano. The British guard ship, HMS Southampton is stationed off Montserrat to assist in evacuation and its Commander Keith Winstanley states they were well placed to advise the local authorities. Former Chief Minister of Montserrat, Austin Bramble described what the volcanic activity was like back in 1966 and Sydney Meade spoke about his experiences in the 1930s. In Guyana, there are more angry reactions over the cyanide spill into the Essequibo River from the Omai Gold Mines. Guyana Human Rights Association, Executive Secretary James Gajadhar urged government to invite a team of international experts to help tackle the problem. President Cheddi Jagan states that Omai will have to clean up the spill and meet the costs involved. Meanwhile, the St. Lucian Cabinet discussed the report of the commission of inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of UN funds. In St. Vincent, the Opposition Unity Labour Party has written to Prime Minister James Mitchell calling for the resignation of the Attorney General Parnell Campbell based on new information that could subject the Attorney General to contempt proceedings.en_US
