In this report, the former Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Headley Brown has been found dead and the police suspect suicide. In the Windward Islands there are rumors about a possible takeover of British importers, Geest. St. Lucia's Opposition Leader, Julian Hunte states he has been reliably informed that the sale of Geest is imminent. Meanwhile, in St. Lucia the Banana Salvation Committee has threatened to take strike action if certain issues facing the industry are not clarified. In Guyana, the Editor-in-Chief of Stabroek News, David de Caires has reacted angrily to remarks made by the First Lady Janet Jagan about the newspaper's reporting of the border dispute with Venezuela. As Haiti's Presidential elections kicks off, some grassroot supporters of Lavalas have expressed discontent with the chosen candidate, Rene Preval. In France, thousands of students protest in order to demand more government spending on higher education. Scientists attempting to stop the spread of malaria around the world are developing ways to transform the malaria carrying mosquitoes. Dr. Colin Leake, comments on if the work being done on malaria carrying mosquitoes could be applied to those carrying dengue fever.en_US
