Abstract
The postcard shows a Tadjah or Hosay which is part of the Hosay celebrations in Trinidad. The word Hosay is derived from Hussein, after the grandson of Muhammed who was assasinated in the 7th century A.D.. Hosay was brought to Trinidad by the Muslim East Indian indentured labourers. For the celebrations models of tadjahs, float like creations were carried through the streets accompanied by drumming.
