Description:
This chapter utilises three texts, literary and filmic to interrogate what it means to be human. The texts are explored against the backdrop of theories from as early as the fifth century BC to the postmodern era. Issues arising from the text, which were seen as central to the conceptualization, included race, cultural rights and cultural identity, human machine interaction, consciousness, and genetic modification.
