Abstract
This photograph of War Memorial Park was probably taken circa 1930 from Charlotte Street, Port of Spain. The sidewalk, the Park’s simple wrought iron and concrete fence, pillars and lamps are in the foreground. As you enter the gateway there are two wrought iron and wood benches facing each other just off the path way. A set of large trees lie to the right, another is on the extreme left but one can only see its branches. The War Memorial monument stands majestic in mid-ground with wonderful historic buildings, palms and other trees in the background. The War Memorial was placed here, 28 June 1924, in honour of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who served and died in World Wars I and II, 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.
