Abstract
Description on back of postcard: “The “Pitch Lake” has an area of over one hundred acres, all asphalt or pitch to an unknown depth. The asphalt is largely used for road making and industrial purposes. It is dug out and the holes refill by the slow flow of the asphalt so that the surface remains level.”
Two employees of the asphalt company dig pitch at the Pitch Lake in this vintage postcard.
