Abstract

Edwin Carrington, Secretary General of the ACP Group of Countries reports that the EEC/ACP relationship must undergo substantive change. Areas for change advocated by Carrington includes the development of services, the processing and transformation of products and in structural adjustment. Researchers at the UN FAO in Brussels have come up with a viable alternative to white flour for developing countries. Morton Satin, Chief at the FAO Industries Services explains the processes to make whole cassava and whole yam bread. In Britain, the British Labour Party calls on Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to condemn remarks allegedly made by Conservative MP Terry Dicks that are offensive to blacks. The last leg of a European tour to promote Jamaica as a top holiday destination is held at a London hotel where travel agents, tour operators and other representatives are treated to a Jamaican evening.
