Abstract
The mauby vendor IS serving a male customer. Dressed in her cat-sleeved dress and wearing what was known as “pumps” on her feet, she holds a small tin bucket with a handle in the crook of her elbow. As she pours her mauby from the contraption on her head, her gentleman customer looks on in anticipation as he sits on a wooden barrel.
