dc.description.abstract | This is an vintage postcard giving a glance at a typical race day at Queens Park, later known as the Queen’s Park Savannah, the Grand Savannah and the Savannah, Port of Spain over the years. A vast verdant field is in the foreground, a pavilion is situated near the horizon with crowds of spectators standing in front of it and large trees behind. Someone is mounted on a horse to the right of the largest building. The first recorded horse race took place here in 1828 and horse racing at the Savannah ended in 1994. | en |
