Description at back: "This is Port-of-Spain race stand viewed from Queen's Park Hotel." Postcard number 12430. This is the Queen's Park known through the ages as the Grand Savannah, The Savannah and the Queen's Park Savannah, 80 hectares of land, formerly the Paradise sugar estate owned by the Peshier family. Here it lies at the foot hills of the Northern Range which is in the background. At the base of the mountains are some of the buildings that line the road that boarders the Savannah. The grassy savannah is interrupted by white lines that are the barriers that mark off the horse racing track. At mid-ground is the pavilion or race stand, as it was called, with its red roofs partly obscured by a massive pink poui tree. A cricket match is being played at the back of the race stand or foreground of this picture. The tops of a few large trees line the bottom edge of the picture.en
