Debrah Lewis is one of the founders on the Mamatoto Resource and Birth Centre located in Clifford Street, Belmont, Trinidad and Tobago. She observed the role of nurses in the recovery of patients which inspired her to pursue a career in nursing. While studying nursing, midwifrey caught her attention and she was exposed to a birth centre in New York and decided this was the path she would like to take. She discusses the historical background of the National Association of Midwives, the advances in care for women and talks about receiving a national award for her work in midwifrey.
