| dc.description.abstract | This article calls for a reconceptualization of the relationship between school and home. It argues that schools should not be expected to become surrogate homes for students, but that children's relationship with their families should be encouraged, since the family can provide children with the individualized care and understanding that schools can never hope to replicate. The article recommends the development of a closer relationship between the school and home, in which the school can provide structures for parents that will help them to help their children more effectively | en_US |
