Abstract
This image shows a female mauby vendor and her customer standing in front of a donkey cart. The female vendor appears to be handing the other female her cup of mauby which would have been poured from the canister balanced on her head. The vendor also has a bucket hanging from her arm. This homemade drink was made by mixing sugar and water with the bark of the Colubrina elliptica or snakewood tree, sometimes adding other spies, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, citrus peel, and star anise.
This is a divided back postcard.
