Colin Smith reports from Guyana that the Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder- Alleyne announced that Chief Justice Karl Singh had granted an order prohibiting her form hearing the case against the accused Mark Benschop. Orders were issued to the prisons authority to not bring Mr. Benschop to the court. His lawyers argued that a dangerous precedence is being set (00:25-02:08)
3. The judiciary system in Guyana is coming under attack. The Government claims that the efforts to take criminals to court is being hampered by the Judiciary system. Ben Meade interviewed Mr. Nigel Hughes, President of the Guyana Bar Association. He says it is unfortunate that comments were made, which will have an impact on the magistrates (02:09-04:27)
4. St. Lucia says there is no future in diplomatic relations with Taiwan. Foreign Ministers Julien Hunte defended the Government’s decision to break ties with Taiwan in favour of China. Taiwan is claiming that China is practicing money diplomacy in the Caribbean Region (06:42-08:34)
5. The KLM airlines and the Bonaire Airport Authority have settled a dispute over its mistreatment of its female crew. The airline claimed the female crew were stripped searched by male customs officials. The officials at the Bonaire airport said this was a routine drug check. Neil Nunez reports (06:42-08:34)
6. Puerto Rico is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a member of the United States Commonwealth. There are, however, those who are against the US relationship. Gary Tuominen, the correspondent in Puerto Rico said the celebrations were not over-shadowed by the protest (08:36-11:04)
7. July 25th to August 4th the Commonwealth Games will be covered by the BBC Caribbean team. The Caribbean Commonwealth Games will be covered by the BBC Caribbean team. The Caribbean Commonwealth team will be a force to be reckoned with in Manchester. Reporter, Orin Gordon has been in Manchester for the opening. He says the Caribbean is well represented at these games. Jamaica has the largest contingent, followed by the Bahamas (11:05-15:25).
