Abstract

Petroleum workers pose for this vintage photograph of an oilfield in Trinidad, British West Indies, by standing in two lines near a shed, while another two stand near a donkey or horse off to the left edge of the photograph. On the right there is an oil derrick and there are trees on the horizon. The palm at the centre of the photograph is the Grugru palm. This oilfield may be in Palmyra, a town west of San Fernando in south Trinidad, as the word 'Palmira' is handwritten in pencil on the postcard.
