dc.description.abstractThis chapter explores the coalescence of the modern tertiary education system of the West Indies, and the historical and geopolitical factors that influenced the movement to establish higher education institutions in the Caribbean region. Four recommendations are offered to strengthen the enrollment of Caribbean students while sustaining a competitive higher education system.
