dc.description.abstract | Cuban leader, Fidel Castro has released Diego Rivas, a political prisoner after 25 years. Diplomatic sources indicate an imminent release of up to 400 Cuban prisoners. In Jamaica, Prime Minister Edward Seaga goes to parliament to announce what he calls the time table to the general elections. In trade, the Ivory Coast has just completed a deal to sell 400,000 ton of cocoa to a French trade house. While the Guyanese government under Desmond Hoyte is trying to build the country through foreign investments and a deal with the IMF, the opposition is pressing for political reform to accompany the economic changes. | en_US |
