Abstract
This project is intended to support the transformation of the education sector to ensure that the country has the required human capital to manage and drive economic growth and diversification. The specific objectives of the project are to improve and expand access to safe and improved learning environments in select schools; and to expand and improve educational services for vulnerable students. The Support for Educational Recovery and Transformation project has two components. Component 1 focuses on the creation of improved physical and digital learning spaces and Component 2 focuses on improving the quality of services for vulnerable and special education needs students. The Support for Educational Recovery and Transformation Project will provide for infrastructure improvement and provision of equipment to support the transformation of the primary education sector to ensure that the country will have the required human capital to manage and drive economic growth and diversification. Improvement in current school’s infrastructure will include the construction of six new schools and extension, rehabilitation, or outfitting of at least nineteen schools, most of which are located in the hinterland. The project will provide more qualified staff to design and monitor the construction and rehabilitation of schools and technical assistance to prepare designs for schools that will be included in the second operation for either construction, rehabilitation or expansion. The project will also provide the enabling conditions (connectivity, devices, and capacity building) and pedagogical support to improve the learning environment by integrating digital technologies. The project will also strengthen the Regional Special Needs Education Centre in its work to support the mainstreaming of students with disabilities and learning difficulties and contribute to providing better education services in the schools.
