[Village life]

Abstract

In this photograph of a laid-back, quiet village, a few people are captured performing their usual routines: an old lady sits near a huge, concrete step, outside a house; a man in a hat is perched on the step near to her; a man in a suit and hat walks down the centre of the street where there is no car in sight; a few people, too far off to distinguish, are walking on the sidewalks on either side of the street and a man in a T-shirt and hat is chatting with someone hidden in the shadow of a hut's doorway. The village street is lined with small, wooden and concrete, town houses, adorned by beautiful fret-work and louvered windows, on the left of the street and barrack-type huts with galvanized sides, on the right. There are a variety of trees, including a few palms, jutting up between the houses. A mountain can be seen in the distance.
