In this vintage photograph of the interior of the Great Cave at Gasparee, also known as Gaspar Grande, off the north-west coast of Trinidad, British West Indies, one can see fascinating sculptures formed through the erosion of water on this limestone cave. Stalactites, icicle-like formations made of rock, coming from the roof of the cave, are everywhere and one huge stalagmite, a conical formation growing up from the cave’s floor, resembles a hand reaching up out of the cave’s base. The caves are one of Trinidad’s tourist attractions.en
