Caribbean Report 06-02-1992

Abstract

The decision to relax the trade embargo against Haiti by the Bush administration is defended by Elliot Abrams, United States Assistant Secretary of State for Latin American Affairs. Legal council to ousted President Jean Betrand Aristide believes that the longer President Aristide remains out of office, chances for his re-instatement are diminished. There are reports on the repatriation of Haitian refugees and views expressed by lawyers of the United Nations High Commission for refugees. Finally the 40th anniversary of the reign of the Queen in Britain is reported on.
