Abstract

In this photograph of the pitch lake at La Brea there are a few rain water ponds on the lake. Four well dressed men in hats, one holding a child, have come to visit. They are standing in a safe area. Some areas are unsafe and someone standing there would quickly sink into the pitch. In the foreground are long grasses. In the background there are coconut palms, trees and oil derricks. Postcard number 16053.
