dc.description.abstract | This island was created as a result of a volcanic eruption which started on October 31st, 1911 when fishermen first noticed bubbles rising from the water and this continued until on November 3rd, 1911 a small island emerged. The island became known as Wilkey's Land after Sergeant Wilkey who went to investigate the phenomenon thus becoming the first person to set foot on the island. | en_US |
