Title: Governor's Drive, Port of Spain, Trinidad
Abstract: At least two horse and carriages and four automobiles are captured in this photograph of the Governor's drive, Trinidad, British West Indies. The men in the photograph are well dressed for the occasion in suits and hats. In the background is the historic Governor's House, built in 1876 with its neo-Renaissance archways and Victorian detail. It is surrounded by palms, other trees and mountains. The land the house was built on, was once part of the Peschier family's Paradise Estate. In 1818, Governor Sir Ralph Woodford bought a portion of this estate to make the Savannah; the Botanic Gardens and the Governor's House.
