Title: It's A Race to Catch the Panman's Ear

Abstract: This article examines the relationship between the calypsonian-composer and pan. Every calypsonian-composer wants his song to be the one that everyone is singing, hence it is the interest of calypsonians to cultivate panmen. The importance of the Road March, a certain kind of song that celebrates the glory and wonder of Carnival and the excitement of Carnival music is discussed. The panmen who are the ones that determine the Road March.
