Charles Dalton Gregson

Charles Dalton Gregson was born on the 22 February, 1881 in Bermuda. In 1937, poor health which resulted from military service, led him to settle in a warmer climate. He took a sea voyage aboard a Fyffes banana boat, eventually settling in Tobago soon after World War II. There, he filled his days searching for wild flowers, particularly orchids, in Tobago's forests, and subsequently painting them. When Charles Gregson died in 1954, his family bequeathed the one hundred and forty seven (147) watercolor paintings of plants in Tobago to The National Herbarium of Trinidad and Tobago for safe keeping.
