Ltd.,[Trinidad and Tobago];Printed in Saxony, 2011-03-01)The postcard shows the beautiful Maracas Waterfall which is located in the upper Maracas Valley in St. Joseph, Trinidad.Item A Peasant’s Home, Trinidad, B.W.I.(Muir, Marshall and Co., Trinidad, 2010-03-04T12:55:23Z)The postcard shows an East Indian family standing outside a small hut with a thatched roof. There is a large breadfruit tree on the right. The card was mailed to Massachusetts, United States and the addressee is C.A. Millett. Also, affixed to the card is a United States postage stamp. Postcard No. 32.Item Pelican Island, Trinidad, B.W.I.(Stephens Ltd., Trinidad, 2011-03-15)This postcard shows Pelican Island, which is one of islands in the group known as the "Five Islands” which are actually six islands located west of Port of Spain in the Gulf of Paria. The others are Caledonia, Craig, Nelson, Lenagan, Rock Islands.Item Registered letter(2011-03-16)This is a Registered letter envelope with instructions on the front "This letter must be given to an officer of the post office to be registered and a receipt obtained for it." On the back of the envelope has a Trinidad 1 penny registration stamp. The envelope is dated 1915.Item The Trinidad and Tobago Ambulance(2010-05-13T13:42:09Z)This is a vintage photograph taken circa 1915 of the Trinidad and Tobago Ambulance. The ambulance appears to be a truck with a canvas cover. The sign on the side of it reads “British Red Cross Society. St. John Ambulance Association”. It seems to be parked near to a recreational area with many trees. The British Red Cross, a United Kingdom humanitarian organization, was formed in 1880. When World War One started in 1914, the British Red Cross joined forces with the Order of St. John Ambulance to form the Joint War committee to assist people in crisis, both in the UK and overseas.Item Trinidad, 21 Oct. 1915(2011-03-09)This used postcard bears the flag of the British Empire and was posted around the time of the First World War. The half penny stamp affixed to the postcard bears the red cross of the Red Cross Society. A fund raising committee for the Red Cross was established in Trinidad and Tobago in 1914.
