    A study to develop a model curriculum in agricultural education for secondary schools in Jamaica
    (1982) Smith, William Manley;
    This study sought to develop a model curriculum in agricultural education for secondary schools in Jamaica, using data collected from selected Jamaicans and appropriate documents. These documents were reviewed to ascertain the nature and extent of development of existing national policy and programme for agricultural education. Questionnaires were distributed to 298 educators and agricultural extension personnel to determine their perceptions regarding the kind of agricultural education programme that would be suited for Jamaica. It was found that: 1) national policies governing agricultural education were concerned with the major focus of programmes in different kinds of secondary schools, and the coordination of the various training systems to avoid duplication of effort; 2) the national plan for agricultural education was embedded in the government's plan for secondary education and the goals, objectives, and strategies for agricultural education; 3) the majority of the educators responded favourably and showed little difference of opinion regarding the purpose, type, and nature of an ideal agricultural education programme; and 4) of the 133 content items presented, 91 percent were rated by respondents as either important or very important for inclusion in an ideal agricultural education programme
