She claimed that the marriage of her great-grand-patents was the first of its kind between an Indian and an African in Trinidad. Her grandfather passed on to her an oral record about Emancipation. She was also very knowledgeable on the history of Arouca and in particular about the religious and cultural practices of the slaves.
