    Teaching of chemistry with special reference to organic chemistry at secondary level and university in Jamaica

    This study (a) defined the role of science in a general framework, as well as within the framework of the Jamaican society, and analysed chemistry (in particular organic chemistry) education programmes in Europe, Britain, the USA, Jamaica, and Barbados; (b) analysed the perceptions of students and teachers at secondary and tertiary levels of the aims and objectives of chemistry in their institutions; and (c) analysed the O'Level, A'Level, and university chemistry syllabuses, in light of opinions and comments from students and teachers. Based on these analyses, a structure of course units was designed for the integration of secondary and tertiary chemistry programmes
