    Copeland: I Never Sold a Single G-Pan: Recipient of TandT's Highest Award Reflects on PP Approach to Pan, Innovation

    Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago, Anand Ramlogan has accused G-Pan inventor Brian Copeland of selling steel pans for personal gain while the intellectual property rights are invested in the Government and proposed that Government take legal action against Copeland and three associates. Copeland argued that the real issue arose over the ownership of the PHI (Philamornic Harmonic Instrument).

    Prof Brian Copeland intends to consult his attorneys and familiarise himself with the details surrounding allegations he sold steel pans for personal gain. Attorney General Anand Ramlogan stated the Government proposes to take legal action against G-pan inventor Prof Copeland and three associates for profiting from sales of the G-pan while such intellectual rights are vested in the Government.

    T and T Engineer Develops Pan Arrangement Software
    (Sunday Guardian, 7-Oct-12) Loubon, Michelle; The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago
    Electrical engineering graduate, David Chow has developed software which will allow steelband arrangers to fine-tune their pan arrangements using authentic steelband tones before they even hit the panyard. The software can be played on keyboards and MIDI instruments through a computer. Chow's Indigisounds Digital Steelpan sample (steelband software) library was developed with support from Prof. Brian Copeland and pan manufacturer Anthony Duncan.
