    Students Flock to Virginia For Steelpan Festival

    Hundreds of pan students will attend the 11th annual PANorama Caribbean Music Festival to be held at Oceanfront Park and Virginia Beach Convention Centre, Virginia Beach, Virginia in the second weekend in May. This event is co-sponsored by the Virginia Arts Festival and Beach events and is hosted by the Virginia Rhythm Project. This festival is a must-attend event for steelbands and a major draw for primary and secondary school pan sides in the eastern part of the US.

    Teague Takes Pan in New Directions

    Associate professor of steelpan and co-director of the Northern Illinois University Steelband, Liam Teague will give a faculty recital of exciting new chamber works for steelpan. The recital consists entirely of new works commissioned by or for Professor Teague. Teague's solo pan faculty recital will be webcast live via the Internet and access is free and open to the public.

    The Northern Illinois University (NIU) Steelband directed by Liam Teague and Cliff Alexis will give its Spring 2013 concert, featuring special guest Robbie Greenidge. The recital will be web cast free of charge through the NIU school of music website.
