In this report, yet another storm threatens part of the Caribbean region. This time Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent and St. Lucia are put on alert for tropical storm Marilyn. In Dutch St. Martin there are delays in the cleanup operations and the full details of the damages caused are slowly emerging. The hurricane caused the demolition of the shanty towns where illegal immigrants used to live and consequently, Dutch St. Martin is offering free passage home to these illegal immigrants. The very active hurricane season is impacting negatively on the insurance sector and could lead to increase premiums. Marine insurance could also rise ,this has implications for the tourism sector. In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a different storm is brewing on the political future of the Attorney General Parnell Campbell who is expected to announce his resignation soon. In Jamaica, there is mounting speculation that the leading members of the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) may be forming a third political party. Anti-drug units from around the world have been invited to a UN Conference in Havana, Cuba next month, to discuss ways to improve international cooperation. The Director-General of the UN Drug Control Program, Giorgio Giacomelli presented the Cuban Drug Commission with more than one million dollars worth of drug fighting equipment. In Bermuda, there is a storm of controversy about what to do with the American fast food chain McDonald's, as the US closes down its military bases there.
